Indian-Mexican UmaSofia Srivastava gives up Miss Teen USA title
Mexican-Indian descent Last year's Miss Teen USA, UmaSofia Srivastava, relinquished her title on Wednesday.
Her "personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organization," according to Srivastava
“After months of grappling with this decision, I have made the choice to resign from the title of Miss Teen USA 2023,”
In response to her choice, Miss Teen USA wrote on Instagram to thank her for her efforts and said
Only a few days have passed since Noelia Voigt, the reigning Miss USA, announced her resignation due to mental health concerns.
She became the first titleholder of East-Indian/Mexican heritage, as well as the second straight titleholder of East-Indian descent, after Faron Medhi of Nebraska won in 2022.
